The scientific and technical staff makes up a large percentage of our work force, but other functions – including budget administration, security, safety/surety, personnel, logistics, maintenance and consultation – are performed as well.

Civilians may apply through the civil service system, provided there is a job opening (http://cpol.army.mil), or as a government contractor through various companies that provide support to USAMRICD.

High School Student Summer Apprenticeship Opportunity
High school students interested in the fields of Math and Science are encouraged to apply to the Science and Engineering Apprentice Program (SEAP). The program is an eight week summer internship sponsored by George Washington University and the Department of Defense. SEAP is designed so that high school students can apprentice in fields of their choice with experienced scientists and engineers serving as their mentors. At USAMRICD, students apprentice in a professional research laboratory setting and learn how their research can benefit the Army as well as the civilian community. Students are treated as research assistants rather than just teenagers. First year participants are awarded an educational stipend of $2,000.
The 2010 program is open to all high school students and will run from June 21, 2010 through August 13, 2010. The deadline for application is February 26, 2010. Please be advised that this is a competitive program with limited positions available. Please visit the SEAP Program website to submit your application. When applying, designate USAMRICD as your lab of choice so that your application can be given thorough consideration for an apprenticeship in our labs. If you have questions about the SEAP program, please contact MRICD’s Employment Coordinator.
